You need to be:
At least 21 years old
Singaporean or Permanent Resident citizenship status
Minimum 4 GCE ‘O’ level passes or equivalent
Fulfils CEA fit and proper criteria
Register for the RES Course
What is RES Course?
RES course is a preparatory module for all new entrants interested in pursuing a career in real estate. The RES examination should be taken within 2 years upon completion of the course.
How long is the RES course?
Typically, the RES course ranges from 1-2 months.
Course Fees
The RES course fee ranges from $700-$800 depending on the courses
Subsidies
NTUC members can enjoy $250 UTAP subsidy
Singaporeans and PRs 25 years old abd above can utilise SkillsFuture Credit of up to $500
RES course providers (approved by CEA)
It is understandable that many take the course whilst pursuing other commitments, a comparison of some of the courses offered can help you make a better decision.
2.Taking the RES Exam
RES Examination Format
Upon completion of the course, you’ll have to sit for an exam. The Real Estate Salesperson (RES) Examination consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. The duration of each paper is 2½ hours.
The format of both Paper 1 and Paper 2 is as follows:
Section A : 50 MCQs (50 marks)
Section B : 15 MCQs with reference to 1 or 2 Case Studies (30 marks)
Section C : 10 Fill-in-the-blank Short Answer Questions (20 marks)
Duration : 2 ½ hours per paper
Modular Sitting for RES Examination
Candidates who have passed any one paper of the RES examination are allowed to retake the examination in modular sitting. The examination results will be in one of the following formats:
Pass (P)
Fail (F)
Pass Paper 1; Fail Paper 2 (P1 F2)
Fail Paper 1; Pass Paper 2 (F1 P2)

You will be notified on your results 4-6 weeks after the examination is held and the passing mark for each paper is 60%.

The RES examination is administered by CEA's appointed examination administrator, SEAMEO Regional Language Centre.

3. Submit a RES liscense registration
Upon passing the examination, it is now time to register for the RES license to kickstart your career.
Estate agents will need to submit the salesperson registration application request via CEA’s e-services. The registering salesperson will have to log in to CEA’s e-services to complete the application after receiving an auto generated email from CEA.
